Luxurious family-run hotel at the foot of the Cospillot piste
Founded by Laurent Boix-Vives (the former head of Rossignol) this family owned hotel has been a great place to stay for a skiing holiday in Courchevel since 1965.
The hotel is located at the bottom of the Cospillot piste and just 5 minutes from La Croisette. Inside the decor is a mix of contemporary and historic memorabilia, with an elegant, comfortable style.
Each of the 25 rooms or suites is uniquely designed and is slightly different each time. You'll find fresh orchids in your room every day and state of the art fixtures, fittings and entertainment. There's free WiFi and an ipod docking station, plus spacious bathrooms, concealed TV's and separate shower rooms.
The four duplex suites are over 100m2 and feautre huge baths and large living rooms with mountain views. There's also a separate chalet "Individual Cottage" that you can stay in for added privacy.
Additionally, they rent a full hotel service in a very contemporary independent chalet with a large fireplace, open plan kitchen and cosy spacious suites.
They even have their own skis, the 'Strato Skis' designed and hand-made inspired by professional skiers. They are exclusively for guests to rent. Their facilities include a children's corner on one of the terraces with a play area, and a library gallery. You can also book your taxi or helicopter here.
If you're looking for a little indulgence, the 800m2 spa area should offer you all you want to unwind, with 2 saunas, a steam room, jacuzzi, indoor swimming pool and a couple of treatment booths.
The large indoor heated pool has a lavish design with chandeliers and luxury pool-side relaxation areas. One of its many fantastic features is that it provides views of the slopes through large picture windows which you can enjoy whilst in the water.
The hotel has two bars, one perfect for a cocktail or late night drink with live music five times a week. There is also an exclusive ski shop bar offering rare wines with more than twenty offered by the glass.
The restaurant Baumanière 1850 has 1 Michelin star and offers an inspired Mediterranean menu from the chef. Eat in the sumptuous restaurant, or take a break on the terrace or in the tea room. Don't forget to try the Strato cocktail at the bar.
The Hotel Strato is ideally situated in Courchevel 1850 on the Cospillot piste, only five minutes from the Croisette.
