What's on in Courchevel for winter 2018/19

Just before Christmas is the Women's Alpine Ski World Cup at the Stade Emile-Allais in Courchevel 1850. 92 athletes from 26 nations come together to race in front of 17,000 excited spectators. The giant slalom takes place on Friday December 21st and slalom is on December 22nd. There will be DJs and free entertainment and activities around the World Cup village which is open from 09:00 both days with races starting at 10:30. Get there early if you want a good spot to see all the action.

Christmas is an exciting, family-orientated time with lots going on in each resort. La Tania, Le Praz, Village, Moriond and Courchevel play host to Papa Noël and his elves on Christmas Eve and there will also be other festive characters making their way around the Courchevel resorts providing entertainment for all. The ski lifts will be open as usual on December 25th so go enjoy or join in with some of the festive fancy dress on the piste. Also don't forget about Russian Christmas which is celebrated in Courchevel 1850 on January 6th.

As we head into the New Year, La Tania hosts a huge NYE party at Pub Le Ski Lodge with fireworks and an outdoor bar and DJ. In Courchevel, there is a huge outdoor dance party on the piste in front of the Croisette with live a DJ and a spectacular firework show at midnight. In the lower resort of Moriond, there will be a late night party at the Funky Fox with DJs playing into the early hours.

One of the highlights of the Courchevel calendar is the International Pyrotechnic Festival from February 14th - March 7th. If you are in resort around this time, do try and make sure you get to see one of the displays. Some of the most talented firework teams from around the world put on fantastic shows in time to themed music. Last year's Star Wars show was amazing, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for this years theme.

The White Ink Tattoo Show is returning to Courchevel Le Praz to provide seasonnaires and holiday makers the opportunity to get their dream tattoo. Some of the best French tattoo artists will be available to book between March 9th to 11th.

The Fly Courchevel event will take place on March 30th to 31st where you get to see an extraordinary journey through history in the air surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. On the same weekend as Fly Courchevel is the crazy Derby to Roc Merlet where anyone can enter to race as fast as they can ski or snowboard from the top of Roc Merlet chairlift to Courchevel Moriond. This is taking place on March 31st and you can sign up at the Tourist Office in Moriond centre.
