Courchevel continues to present a classic late February scene, with the higher villages sitting above a well established snowpack and the tree lined slopes holding good coverage down towards Le Praz. The Three Valleys links are running smoothly and, despite the half term rush, the mountain still feels expansive once you move away from the main lift fronts. Conditions feel settled and dependable, particularly on higher north facing terrain.
Snow and Weather Summary
Current snow depths are around 100 to 115 cm at resort level in Courchevel 1850, with between 180 and 230 cm reported on the upper slopes around Saulire and Vizelle at approximately 2700 metres. A light refresh of around 5 to 10 cm has fallen at altitude in recent days, mainly improving surface quality on exposed runs while the underlying base remains strong.
Temperatures have been seasonally cool, with minus 8 to minus 4 degrees on upper slopes and between minus 2 and plus 3 degrees in the villages depending on sunshine. The freezing level has generally ranged between 1500 and 1800 metres, dropping overnight and allowing pistes to refreeze effectively. Winds have been mostly light, occasionally moderate on higher ridges, but without significant disruption to lift operations.
On piste, the best snow quality is found above 2000 metres where surfaces remain firm, grippy and consistent throughout much of the day. North facing slopes are holding particularly well. Mid mountain runs are in good shape after grooming and soften slightly on sunnier aspects during the afternoon. Lower runs into Le Praz and La Tania remain open and well maintained, though they are best enjoyed earlier in the day if temperatures rise. The links across to Meribel and Val Thorens are skiing reliably with solid coverage throughout.
