Snow Report, 23 February 2026

By Nye Erskine, Updated

Courchevel continues to present a classic late February scene, with the higher villages sitting above a well established snowpack and the tree lined slopes holding good coverage down towards Le Praz. The Three Valleys links are running smoothly and, despite the half term rush, the mountain still feels expansive once you move away from the main lift fronts. Conditions feel settled and dependable, particularly on higher north facing terrain.

Snow and Weather Summary

Current snow depths are around 100 to 115 cm at resort level in Courchevel 1850, with between 180 and 230 cm reported on the upper slopes around Saulire and Vizelle at approximately 2700 metres. A light refresh of around 5 to 10 cm has fallen at altitude in recent days, mainly improving surface quality on exposed runs while the underlying base remains strong.

Temperatures have been seasonally cool, with minus 8 to minus 4 degrees on upper slopes and between minus 2 and plus 3 degrees in the villages depending on sunshine. The freezing level has generally ranged between 1500 and 1800 metres, dropping overnight and allowing pistes to refreeze effectively. Winds have been mostly light, occasionally moderate on higher ridges, but without significant disruption to lift operations.

On piste, the best snow quality is found above 2000 metres where surfaces remain firm, grippy and consistent throughout much of the day. North facing slopes are holding particularly well. Mid mountain runs are in good shape after grooming and soften slightly on sunnier aspects during the afternoon. Lower runs into Le Praz and La Tania remain open and well maintained, though they are best enjoyed earlier in the day if temperatures rise. The links across to Meribel and Val Thorens are skiing reliably with solid coverage throughout.

Outlook & What’s On

The forecast points towards continued cool conditions with the possibility of light snowfall later in the week, mainly affecting higher elevations. Any fresh snow would help maintain surface quality and further enhance conditions on exposed slopes. Freezing levels are expected to remain appropriate for late February, which should support snow preservation across most elevations.

Courchevel has a busy programme of events this week, including family friendly activities in the village centres, guided experiences on the mountain and evening entertainment. Torchlit descents and live music performances are scheduled, adding to the lively but well balanced holiday atmosphere.

Weather outlook as of: 23 February 2026. As I am sure you are aware, accurately forecasting weather more than two or three days ahead in the mountains is notoriously tricky. If there is a significant change we will update this section before the next full weekly snow report.

Snow Takeaway

Courchevel is skiing particularly well above 2000 metres, especially on north facing terrain around Saulire and Vizelle. Early starts will make the most of firmer morning pistes, while higher slopes should continue to hold good quality snow throughout the day. With a solid base and cool temperatures, conditions look set to remain steady in the coming days.
