As the winter recedes, spring slowly turns to summer in the Alps.

The growing popularity of Courchevel as a summer resort means that increasingly the tourist industry here is providing more for its visitors to enjoy.

The lifts are usually open by early July, with a few opening on the preceding weekends. You can find out more about the lift opening dates and plan accordingly.

With the rise of summer visitors, the mountain resorts are making a concerted effort to not allow themselves to look like a closed ski resort. The potential revenues this time of year brings is not to be sniffed at, and as temperatures rise at the coastal resorts, many are seeking the cooler temperatures of an 'at altitude' holiday. Plus being 'outdoorsy' and hiking and trail-running have all taken on a certain cachet in recent years.

If you're planning a visit to Courchevel this summer, whether as a first-timer or it's your 'go to destination' here's an update and a look at all that's new.

Ride the brand new La Pradam mountain bike trail

This summer, mountain bikers can enjoy a brand new blue trail linking Courchevel Village to Lac du Praz. La Pradam offers a safer and more enjoyable alternative to the old access road, filling a key gap in the resortโ€™s cycling network. The 2.2 km route winds through the forest before opening onto alpine meadows as you approach Le Praz, with 300 metres of descent along the way. Designed to be both accessible and fun, the trail mixes natural sections with wooden features like bridges and small modules to keep things exciting.

Lโ€™Intรฉgral โ€“ updated for summer with a smoother ride and better connections

This summer, the Lโ€™Intรฉgral mountain bike trail has had a refresh. Known for its length and technical features, the 13 km black trail descends from the top of La Saulire at 2,738 metres to Courchevel Le Praz, with 1,460 metres of vertical drop. The route is being reworked to offer a more fluid ride while keeping its challenging nature. Improvements also include a better link to Mรฉribelโ€™s Bike Park and easier access to the wider Three Valleys MTB network. It remains a route for experienced riders, now with a more connected and consistent experience.
