Snow Report, 2 March 2026

By Nye Erskine, Updated

Courchevel moves into March with the mountain looking well set for the weeks ahead. From the tree lined slopes above Le Praz through to the open terrain around Saulire, coverage remains strong and the pistes are holding their shape after a busy holiday period. There is a settled feel across the Three Valleys link, with reliable snow across the main connections and a good depth still evident on the upper mountain.

Snow and Weather Summary

Current snow depths are around 75 to 95 cm at resort level in Courchevel 1850, with slightly lower figures around 60 to 80 cm down towards Le Praz at 1300 metres. On the upper slopes above 2400 metres, depths are generally between 170 and 240 cm, with the strongest base around Saulire at 2700 metres. A recent light refresh of around 5 to 10 cm has improved surface quality on higher exposed runs, while the underlying base remains well consolidated.

Temperatures have ranged from minus 10 to minus 5 degrees on the upper mountain and between minus 2 and plus 3 degrees in resort depending on sunshine. The freezing level has typically sat between 1500 and 1900 metres, dropping overnight to allow for good refreezing on prepared pistes. Winds have been mostly light to moderate, with occasional stronger gusts near the highest ridgelines but no widespread disruption.

On piste, the best conditions are found above 2000 metres where snow remains firm and grippy for much of the day. North facing slopes are holding particularly well and offer the most consistent surface. Lower runs back towards the tree line are skiing best in the mornings before softening slightly in sunnier spells. Links across to Meribel and the wider Three Valleys are in good shape with dependable coverage on main routes.

Outlook & What’s On

The outlook for the coming days suggests a mix of bright spells and passing cloud, with the possibility of light snowfall at altitude later in the week. Freezing levels are forecast to fluctuate slightly but should remain low enough overnight to protect overall snow quality. Any fresh snowfall would provide a useful refresh on upper slopes and help maintain good coverage across exposed sectors.

Courchevel continues to host a range of early March activities, including family entertainment, mountain experiences and regular live music in the village. The resort atmosphere remains lively but more relaxed now that the peak holiday crowds have eased.

Weather outlook as of: 2 March 2026. As I am sure you are aware, accurately forecasting weather more than two or three days ahead in the mountains is notoriously tricky. If there is a significant change we will update this section before the next full weekly snow report.

Snow Takeaway

Courchevel is skiing best above 2000 metres where snow depth and surface quality remain strongest, particularly on north facing slopes around Saulire. Early starts will offer the most consistent conditions on lower returns. With a solid base and cool overnight temperatures, the resort remains in good shape as March begins.
