Christmas 2019/20 in Méribel - What weather to expect & what to do

A foodie's Christmas in Courchevel

If you want to experience a French-style Christmas, make the most of all the gourmet goodies on offer. Foie gras, oysters, smoked salmon, caviar, scallops and snails are common starters, and the main dish is as likely to be quail, goose or guinea fowl as turkey. If you still have room, try a “bûche de noel” (chocolate log) to finish your feast.

Where to party in Méribel for New Year's Eve?

Get ready to dance your socks off at one of the many New Year parties that Courchevel Tourism has organised – a great way to end the year surrounded by the amazing mountains and being 2020 with a bang. The major bashes take place in La Tania and Courchevel 1850 snow front. It kicks off in La Tania at 21:00 with a concert from the band Phat Lip, followed by fireworks at 22:30 then a DJ dance set from DJ Nico Loco right after the fireworks until 00:30. The party starts a little later in Courchevel 1850, at 23:00, with music and a DJ set then the main fireworks at midnight then the party continues until 01:30. Extra buses will be put from Courchevel to the lower resorts but be prepared the wrap up warm as you will be standing in the snow and it’s forecast to be a cold one.

Alternatively, spend the evening high in the mountains at Méribel’s famous high altitude club, La Folie Douce. Arrive by lift, then enjoy a night including dinner, a show, cabaret and clubbing ‘til late…

Whatever you get up to during the Magical Christmas week in Courchevel, we would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of the SeeCourchevel team!
