Little St Bernard Pass now open

France–Italy mountain border now clear of snow

The Col du Petit-Saint-Bernard, a mountain pass situated at 2188 metres above sea level that joins the Tarentaise Valley to the Aosta Valley, is now open to traffic after 15 days of constant snow clearing.
For the French and Italian snow clearers the opening of the col was quite notable after the heavy snowfall this winter which finished with a particularly snowy spring.

On the French side of the Col du Petit-Saint-Bernard the maximum snow depth is currently at a mighty 6 metres, whilst on the Italian side the snow depth is at 4.5 metres.

Elsewhere the Col de l'Iseran, situated at 2770 metres, is due to open on the 8th of June - links for real time mountain pass openings can be found on our road access page.
