Courchevel is deep into winter mode now, with the whole area feeling settled and well covered as February gets underway. The mountains look properly filled in, tree lines are white and healthy, and the resort has that steady mid season rhythm rather than anything rushed or fragile. Conditions on the slopes feel dependable, with a good base everywhere and a mix of quiet corners and busier pistes depending on where you ski.
Snow and Weather Summary
Snow depths across Courchevel remain strong, with around 230 to 260cm at altitude and roughly 120 to 140cm at resort level depending on village height. There has been little in the way of fresh snowfall over the past week, but January’s snow has compacted well and is holding up nicely. Temperatures have stayed wintery, with daytime highs of around -4 to -6 degrees Celsius on upper slopes and closer to -2 degrees in the villages, falling well below freezing overnight. The freezing level has mostly hovered around 1,000 to 1,300 metres, helping lower pistes retain cover. Winds have generally been light, occasionally moderate on exposed ridges. Skiing is very good on higher and north facing terrain where snow remains chalky and grippy, while lower and sunnier runs are firmer and best enjoyed earlier in the day.
