Snow Report, 11 December 2025

By Nye Erskine, Updated

Courchevel is slowly settling into winter and the mountains are beginning to look the part again. The upper slopes have taken on a proper winter feel and from the villages you can see the whitened peaks stretching across the valley. There is a sense of anticipation building as the lifts are now running and more terrain is preparing to open for the season.

Snow & Weather Summary

Current reports show around 57 cm of snow on the upper slopes, with thinner early season cover lower down. Light snowfall earlier in the week helped freshen the pistes and the forecast indicates the chance of a small top up over the coming days, particularly at higher elevation. Temperatures are expected to stay close to or just below freezing on the mountain, with colder nights allowing the snowpack to hold firm. Skiing on the higher slopes should feel reasonably secure for this time of year, although valley level runs still have limited cover and may depend on artificial snow until the next significant snowfall arrives.

Outlook & What’s On

The outlook for the coming days is for settled, cold weather which should help preserve the snow that is already in place. Even a light snowfall would improve conditions further on the higher pistes. Courchevel is now open for the winter and the broader Three Valleys area is gradually opening more lifts as snow cover allows. Festive events will begin to appear through December and the villages are already showing signs of getting into the rhythm of the season. For the best skiing over the next week it is worth focusing on higher altitude terrain where coverage is strongest.

On Tuesday 16 December 2025, the Audi FIS Ski World Cup returns to the iconic Stade Émile-Allais in Courchevel 1850 for a dramatic women's night-slalom, with the first run at 17:45 and the second at 20:45.

From 16:00 a "partners' village" will be open at the finish area, and between the runs a live DJ set by Loran promises a lively atmosphere. After the second run there will be a prize-giving ceremony, capped off by a fireworks display. Entry is free (with prior registration), making this a must-see mix of world-class skiing and alpine-resort nightlife for anyone staying at Courchevel.

Snow Takeaway

Courchevel is offering a steady start to the season with decent snow on the upper slopes and the potential for conditions to improve as cold weather continues. Early season skiing should be enjoyable on the higher pistes while lower slopes remain more limited for now. It is a good moment to get some early turns in, especially if you stay high and follow the best-maintained runs.
