Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 10th January 2013

I realise up until this point most of my apres reports have revolved around drinking. Believe it or not, there are other things to do in resort other than drink and ski. Ever the committed reporter, this week I have endured a couple of the best restaurants around to bring you some variety. Anything for you, the reader!

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 22nd March 2013

Despite our latest bumper snow fall spring is most certainly in the air in Courchevel. With only four weeks of the season remaining, there is a sense of urgency in making the most of the time left – skiing all the runs you’ve never skied and getting out there and trying something new.

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 8th February 2013

After such a warm January we've been rejoicing in the return of the snow through February. It has snowed constantly for the past few days much to the delight of powder hunters who've been venturing off the beaten track in search of fresh lines.

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 3rd January 2013

With a phobia of odd numbers I've always feared hitting 2013. With such an unpleasant odd number such as 13 - could anything good come from this year? On the first day of this year my fears appeared confounded. We had woken to an Apocalypse. Walking zombies stumbled around town, eyes down, avoiding eye contact for fear of interaction. Conversation absent with all chat swallowed by the excesses of New Year - this was not going to be a good day!

5 Brilliant Hollywood Ski Scenes

Skiing and cinema have had a bit of a rocky relationship over the years. Need I mention 80s nightmare ski-flick ‘Hotdog’ or the more recent avalanche of cringe that was ‘Chalet Girl’?

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 22nd April 2013

After another day skiing fresh powder, following yet another dump of snow you’d be forgiven for thinking we’re still in the midst of winter. It’s hard to believe that we are in fact reaching the end of April and yet more snow! What. A. Season!

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 25th February 2013

Recently as I’ve been doing the rounds for work I’ve come across an increasing number of non-skiers. Previously I thought it only pregnant mums or babysitting grans who came on ski breaks without actually hitting the pistes but it seems that this phenomenon is growing.

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 8th March 2013

For most, entering the month of March, means the start of spring, bluer skies and sunnier climes. For those of us lucky enough to be based in Courchevel March signals the start of a month of charity madness known only as Mo March.

Last week saw a new kind of gastronomic experience come to town in the form of Jimmy’s Supper Club. Supper Clubs are a 21st century response to the ever increasing cost of living and a draw to a more relaxed and informal eating experience. Also known as pop-up restaurants they often begin in people’s homes and operate in unusual settings.

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 14th February 2013

As the clock struck midnight last night and we entered what is hailed to be the most romantic day of the year, it dawned on me with very sweaty and noisy clarity that we could not be in a less romantic setting.

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 28th January 2013

Firstly I should apologise for my lack of après report last week. I had two friends out to visit. Which, whilst very exciting, left me with the task of devising a schedule of events to keep them occupied during the stay and to demonstrate what an incredible resort Courchevel is.

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 16th December 2012

This past weekend Courchevel opened its doors - or rather its slopes - to some of the world's top ski athletes for the FIS Women's World Cup. This weekend 29 female racers took on the giant slalom course on the Stade piste in 1850. The crowds came out in force to support the girls and got particularly animated when the French racers took to the start gate. French flags were waved wildly the length of the piste and cheers could be heard around the resort.

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 1st April 2013

It never fails to astound me how fast the season goes. It seems only yesterday that we were arriving, car laden with skis, bags, a varied selection of Heinz products and a ridiculous passion fruit plant which is yet to produce anything but dead leaves.

Couple up in Courchevel, Valentines Day 2016

It’s St Valentine’s Day this Sunday. If you happen to be in the Alps this Valentine’s Day and more specifically in Courchevel, there are a few things happening which could melt even the coldest of hearts into being romantic.

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 7th December 2012

With over a metre of fresh snow in the last couple of days and no sign of it abating anytime soon, you're more likely to be deciding upon which gear to pack rather than considering Courchevel's après ski offerings. Let's be honest though, no matter how good the snow, no ski day is complete without a cold beer or warming glass of vin chaud as you discuss your day on the hill. Courchevel has undergone many changes over the summer so if you're heading out this winter here's a little round-up on what's going on off the piste  and what Courchevel has to offer once the sun sets.

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 18th February 2013

With the great influx that is half-term upon us once more, many questions are flying about as to where the best lunch spots are and where to head on the chalet staff's night off so I thought I’d put together a list of my favourite places to eat, and believe me, I’ve eaten all over the valley.

Courchevel Apres Ski Report: 12th December 2012

The snow has settled, the builders are slowly heading back down the mountain, and the influx of chalet staff is starting to slow. It must be that time again… winter season has arrived!
