This morning sees the release of the 2017 Michelin Guide awards, where we find out the winners and losers in the number of stars awarded to restaurants around the world.

Courchevel has a huge number of fine dining restaurants and between them they hold a whole galaxy of Michelin stars.

This morning the announcement has been made that chef Yannick Alléno at Restaurant Le 1947 in Hotel Cheval Blanc has been awarded his third Michelin star.

The 48 year old chef was unsurprisingly very pleased with the news. He already holds 3 stars for his Paris restaurant Pavillon Ledoyen.

A total of 616 restaurants now hold Michelin stars, an increase of 16 from last year. In 2016 there were only 26 restaurants who held the highest accolade of three stars. Yannick is the only chef to be awarded 3 stars in 2017.

This map shows all the current holders of 1, 2 and 3 Michelin stars across France.
