Luxury Transfer Transfers for Courchevel

For most international visitors flying to Courchevel, Geneva is still the easiest airport to start with, despite not being the closest.

It offers the greatest choice of flights and one of the best selections of scheduled, shared and private ski transfers.

But Courchevel is a destination where it is particularly sensible to compare the entire journey rather than simply the flight.

A direct flight into Chambéry with a 90-minute transfer can be considerably more attractive than a cheaper Geneva flight followed by several hours on a shared coach.

Lyon should not be dismissed either. Its road journey is broadly comparable with Geneva and it has an extensive flight network.

For British visitors, Moûtiers is also much more important than it first appears. The station is only around 25km below Courchevel, the S65 bus continues directly up the valley and Eurostar Snow serves Moûtiers during the winter.

And once you are in resort, you generally do not need a car. Courchevel's free shuttle network connects its villages, while the ski lifts provide access across Courchevel and into the rest of the Three Valleys.

The main thing to get right is the final destination.

Don't just book a transfer to “Courchevel”. Check whether you are staying in Le Praz, La Tania, Courchevel Village, Moriond or 1850, enter the actual accommodation address and make sure the service you choose takes you there.

That small bit of planning is much more useful than saving a few euros on a transfer that leaves you at the wrong altitude.

These are only indicative figures. Prices vary with the operator, date, arrival time and type of service, correct as at September 2026.

Journey times can increase significantly on busy winter Saturdays, particularly on the roads through the Tarentaise valley.

Staying in Courchevel 1850, Moriond, Village, Le Praz or La Tania?

Courchevel is not a single compact resort.

This is one of the most important things to realist before booking.

Its main villages include:

• Saint-Bon, around 1,100m
• Courchevel Le Praz—1,300m, historically Courchevel 1300
• La Tania, around 1,400m
• Courchevel Village—1,550m, historically Courchevel 1550
• Courchevel Moriond—historically Courchevel 1650
• Courchevel 1850

Courchevel Village is officially at around 1,550m, Moriond at around 1,650m and Le Praz at around 1,300m. The old altitude names remain widely used, particularly by British visitors and accommodation providers.

This matters because the villages lie at different points along the mountain road.

Staying in Le Praz does not mean travelling all the way to Courchevel 1850.

Likewise, La Tania sits on a separate branch of the Courchevel valley, so your vehicle may follow a different final route.

When booking, supply the exact name and address of your accommodation.

Do not simply select “Courchevel” if the booking system gives you more precise options.

Geneva International Airport is normally the main gateway to Courchevel for British and other international visitors.

The practical road distance is around 180–190km. Allow roughly 2 hours 15 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes in clear traffic, although the precise time depends on where in Courchevel you are staying.

For holiday planning, particularly in winter, the longer figure is the more useful allowance.

The first part of the journey follows the main road towards Albertville and then the N90 through the Tarentaise to Moûtiers. From Moûtiers, the road climbs for roughly another 25km into the Courchevel valley.

On a quiet weekday this is straightforward.

On a peak ski Saturday, it can be very different. The Tarentaise road network carries large volumes of arriving and departing ski traffic, and official Savoie traffic forecasts regularly warn of disruption lasting for much of Saturday.

Do not therefore treat a quoted two-hour journey as a guarantee.

What's the nearest airport to Courchevel? (apart from the altiport, of course)

The closest airport to Courchevel is Chambery, a little over 100km from the centre of resort. While it’s faster to get to Courchevel from Chambery (around 1h30), flights are generally more expensive and rarer, as they are usually tour operator charters.

Scheduled transfers are generally the cheapest straightforward way of travelling from Geneva Airport to Courchevel.

Unlike a private transfer, they operate to a timetable and normally make a number of stops along the journey.

For winter 2026/27, direct weekend Geneva–Courchevel coach tickets can be found from around €47.50 each way, with some group discounts available.

These services make most sense if:

• you are travelling alone or as a couple
• price matters more than speed
• your flight fits the transfer timetable
• you are arriving during the main winter season
• the designated Courchevel stop is convenient for your accommodation

Allow considerably longer than the best-case private-transfer journey because the service may call at Moûtiers and make several resort stops.

A shared transfer sits between a scheduled coach and a completely private vehicle.

You normally travel in a minibus or coach with passengers arriving at similar times and heading towards Courchevel or nearby resorts.

For one or two people, this can offer a good balance between price and convenience.

Depending on the operator, the service may use fixed stops or provide something closer to door-to-door transport. Shared transfer prices to Courchevel currently start at around €47–€50, although smaller door-to-door shared services can cost around €60–€80 per passenger.

The disadvantage is time.

You may have to wait at Geneva while other passengers arrive, and a vehicle serving several Courchevel addresses can take some time to complete its drop-offs.

A passenger staying in Le Praz may be out of the vehicle considerably before somebody travelling to an accommodation high in Courchevel 1850.

Check what “shared” actually means

This is particularly important in Courchevel.

A scheduled shared coach normally leaves at a fixed time and uses designated stops.

A shared door-to-door transfer usually groups passengers according to arrival time and then makes individual accommodation stops.

A third possibility is a service that takes you as far as Moûtiers, where you transfer onto a regional bus or another vehicle for the final climb.

Before booking, check:

• exactly where you are dropped
• whether another connection is involved
• how long you might wait at the airport
• whether other resorts are served by the same vehicle
• how flight delays are handled
• whether skis and other sports equipment are included

The cheapest advertised Geneva–Courchevel ticket is not necessarily the most convenient journey.

With a private transfer, the vehicle is reserved for your travelling party.

The driver will normally meet you at Geneva Airport and take you directly to your hotel, chalet or apartment.

There is no waiting for unrelated passengers and no need to make several other accommodation drop-offs.

Current prices vary considerably by date and vehicle. Operator quotes for Geneva–Courchevel private minibuses vary from approximately €250 on quieter midweek dates, increasing to around €375 on peak Saturdays. Another currently charges €400 for up to three people or €450 for four to eight passengers.

So roughly €300–€450 per vehicle is a more realistic budgeting range than assuming there is one standard private-transfer price.

Private transfers are particularly useful if:

• you are travelling as a family or group
• you have young children
• you have several ski or snowboard bags
• you arrive very early or late
• your accommodation is away from the main coach stops
• you want to minimise travelling time after your flight.

Give the transfer operator your flight number so they can monitor your arrival.

You should also provide the full accommodation address, not simply “Courchevel”.

Quite often.

The important calculation is the total price for your party.

Six passengers paying €65 each for shared transfers spend €390.

At that point, a private vehicle may cost roughly the same and gives you a direct journey, exclusive use of the vehicle and no airport wait for unrelated passengers.

For four or more people, it is therefore always worth comparing a private quote with the combined cost of individual shared seats.

The calculation becomes even more attractive for seven or eight passengers if one minivan can take the whole group.

Using public transport can help keep the costs down on your trip to Courchevel. However, it can take considerably longer than a shared or private transfer as buses usually stop several times along the way and you may need to make a connection in Moutiers, the nearest transport hub in the area.

How do you get from the airport to Courchevel using public transport?

Public bus transfers run from the airports to Courchevel in the winter season, especially during weekends. They usually stop at Moutiers, the closest train station to Courchevel and where Eurostar ski trains from London St Pancras stop, before heading up to resort.

Public transport lines travel between Moutiers and Courchevel a couple of times per day in summer and winter, stopping at the resorts in the Courchevel valley along the way. It is possible to travel from Geneva towards Courchevel by train, but it is not normally the easiest airport-transfer solution. We mention it here for completeness though not to advise you to attempt it.

The nearest railway station is Moûtiers-Salins-Brides-les-Bains. The regional S65 bus connects Moûtiers with Courchevel throughout the year, with more frequent services during the main winter and summer seasons. Ski or snowboard carriage is included within the current standard luggage allowance.

Current SNCF schedules show Geneva to Moûtiers journeys taking from around 3 hours 13 minutes, with an average of approximately 3 hours 45–50 minutes and at least one change. You then still need to travel from Moûtiers into Courchevel. So adding to the already siginificant journey time.

So, if you have just landed at Geneva Airport, a direct road transfer usually makes more sense.

Where rail becomes much more interesting is if the train is your main journey to the Alps.

For winter, Eurostar Snow serves Moûtiers from London on Saturdays during the main ski season, with services usually operating from mid-December. Moûtiers is one of the principal rail gateways to the Three Valleys. From there, Courchevel is only the final bus or taxi journey away.

That makes travelling from the UK by train a genuinely practical alternative to flying, particularly if you are staying for a full week and would prefer not to deal with airports or hire cars.

Check the operator's delay policy before choosing a transfer.

Private transfer companies will normally ask for your flight number and monitor its arrival.

Scheduled and shared services work differently.

If a delay causes you to miss your booked departure, some companies will move you onto the next available vehicle, while others may charge an amendment or require a new booking.

This becomes particularly important with late flights because the number of onward transfers reduces considerably during the evening.

When comparing services, look at: flight-delay arrangements, the last scheduled departure, missed-transfer conditions and what happens if there is no later vehicle that day.

The lowest advertised ticket price matters less if a two-hour flight delay leaves you stranded at Geneva.

A hire car gives you independence, but most people do not actually need one for a week's ski holiday in Courchevel.

The drive itself is straightforward for most of the journey. Motorway and dual carriageway take you towards Albertville and along the Tarentaise as far as Moûtiers. From there, Courchevel Tourism describes the final climb as around 30 minutes on a wide mountain road.

If you hire a car at an airport, check exactly what winter equipment is included.

Do not assume that the cheapest rental automatically comes with tyres or equipment suitable for the drive into a ski resort.

There are two things to think about in winter.

First, you need to be comfortable driving in snow and ice.

Second, winter equipment is a legal requirement in Haute-Savoie between 1 November and 31 March. Vehicles must meet the applicable winter-equipment rules, using compliant winter tyres or carrying the required chains or snow socks. Check what your rental company provides rather than assuming the cheapest car automatically includes suitable equipment.

And be advised that the car rental companies have different levels of service/equipment depending on whether you hire on the French side of Geneva Airport (in France) or the Swiss side, yes there are different legal requirements affecting which equipment is provided.

Usually not.

Courchevel operates a free shuttle network connecting all of its main villages, together with neighbouring hamlets. The service runs in both winter and summer.

That means you can move between places such as Le Praz, Courchevel Village, Moriond and 1850 without driving.

In winter, the ski lifts also connect the different sectors of the ski area.

And your accommodation provider may well provide in resort rides, particularly for higher end properties and holidays.

Courchevel itself provides direct access to the wider Three Valleys, with around 600km of pistes linking onwards towards Méribel, Les Menuires and Val Thorens. You therefore do not need a car simply to explore the ski area.

A hire car can consequently spend most of a week's holiday parked.

And lastly, as an environmental impact, remember extra cars on the road is the last thing winter ski holidays and the local ecosystems need.

Specialist ski-transfer companies are accustomed to carrying skis and snowboards, but you should still declare them when booking.

Vehicle capacity is not just about passengers.

Eight people with eight suitcases, several ski bags and hand luggage require considerably more space than eight passengers travelling lightly.

On the S65 bus from Moûtiers, the current standard ticket includes one item of hand luggage, one item of hold luggage and one pair of skis or snowboard.

For private and airport transfers, policies vary between operators.

Bikes need more planning during summer. Always tell the company how many bike bags or boxes you are bringing so that it can allocate a suitable vehicle.

Families should compare shared and private transfers rather than looking only at the headline per-person price.

With two adults and several children, the combined cost of individual seats can become surprisingly close to the cost of a private minivan.

Private transport also means:

• your family travels together
• no waiting for unrelated passengers
• fewer intermediate stops
• direct delivery to your accommodation

Request appropriate child or booster seats when booking and give the operator the children's ages.

Scheduled coach services can be attractive for families too. Some may offer free travel for children aged under three and a discount for children aged three to 12, although the exact winter fares and terms should be checked.

Lyon Saint-Exupéry is a suitable alternative to Geneva.

It is around 175–185km from Courchevel and normally takes approximately 2 hours to 2 hours 20 minutes in good conditions. Real-world winter transfer schedules can be longer.

Lyon has a large year-round flight network and may sometimes offer better fares or flight times than Geneva, although we rarely find that to be the case.

The main difference is transfer choice.

There are generally fewer Courchevel shared services from Lyon than from Geneva, although operators offer shared winter transfers from both airports.

Some public-transport journeys also require a change at Moûtiers.

So compare: airfare + transfer cost + departure time + total journey time, for your case scenario.

A slightly cheaper Lyon flight (which would be a rare thing in the first place) is not necessarily cheaper overall if it requires an expensive private transfer.

Conversely, a well-timed Lyon flight with a direct shared service can work extremely well.

Chambéry

Chambéry is the closest major commercial airport to Courchevel.

It is around 95–110km away, and the normal road journey is approximately 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes.

That makes it very attractive geographically.

The limitation is the flight schedule.

Chambéry Airport has far fewer services than Geneva or Lyon, with much of its ski traffic concentrated on winter weekends.

If there is a convenient direct flight from your departure airport, however, Chambéry can provide the shortest airport transfer of the main options.

Grenoble

Grenoble Airport is another possibility, particularly for winter charter and low-cost flights from Britain.

Be careful when looking at distances online: Grenoble Airport is not in Grenoble city centre. The airport is at Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs, so distances quoted simply from “Grenoble” can make the Courchevel journey look considerably shorter than it really is.

In practice, allow roughly two hours or a little more from Grenoble Airport to Courchevel, depending on traffic and conditions, as it's approximately 182km distance.

As with Chambéry, shared-transfer options are more limited than from Geneva.

Check the onward journey before booking the flight.

Yes, but an Italian airport is rarely the most logical gateway.

Turin is the most plausible major Italian airport, but reaching Courchevel requires crossing the Alps and involves a substantially longer journey than arriving through Geneva, Chambéry or Lyon.

Milan is further still.

An Italian airport makes most sense if:

• Italy forms part of a wider trip
• there is a particularly convenient flight
• you have arranged a private transfer
• you are hiring a car

For a straightforward week's skiing in Courchevel, one of the French airports or Geneva will normally be much easier.

For most travellers, the decision can be narrowed down fairly quickly.

• Travelling alone on a budget: look first at a scheduled Geneva transfer or travel via Moûtiers.
• One or two people: compare a scheduled coach with a shared airport transfer.
• A family: compare the total shared fare with the cost of a private vehicle.
• Four or more adults: always get a private-transfer quote before buying individual shared tickets.
• Arriving on a Saturday: there will generally be more shared services, but potentially much more road traffic.
• Arriving midweek: road traffic may be easier but there can be fewer scheduled services.
• Flying into Chambéry: take advantage of the shorter road journey if the flight and transfer timetable work.
• Arriving very late or leaving very early: private transport will normally give you the greatest flexibility.
• Travelling from London: consider Eurostar Snow to Moûtiers and complete the final 25km by bus or taxi.
• Staying in La Tania: select La Tania specifically rather than assuming every Courchevel transfer automatically serves it.
• Planning to explore outside the resort: consider hiring a car.
