Snow Report, 17 December 2025

By Nye Erskine, Updated

Courchevel feels fully back in winter mode this week. The village is busy again, the mountains above are clearly white, and there is a steady rhythm to the days with lifts running and pistes being groomed overnight. From first lifts in the morning you can see that the snowpack has continued to build through early December, and there is a growing confidence locally that conditions are settling into something reliable as we head toward the main festive period.

Snow and Weather Summary

Current snow depths across the Courchevel area sit at around 50 to 60 cm at village level, with closer to 90 to 100 cm reported on the upper slopes above 2,400 metres. Recent snowfall earlier in the month helped establish a solid base, and while there has not been a major dump in the last few days, cold overnight temperatures have kept the snow in good shape. Forecasts for the coming days suggest mostly dry conditions with a chance of light snowfall at altitude, alongside freezing levels hovering around 1,500 to 1,800 metres. On the slopes this translates to firm, well prepared pistes in the mornings, softening slightly in sunnier areas by afternoon. Higher altitude runs are skiing best, while lower home runs remain thinner and more sensitive to temperature changes.

Outlook & What’s On

The outlook for the rest of the week points to stable weather with cold nights, which should allow piste teams to continue maintaining good coverage across the open ski area. Any light snowfall that arrives will be more about refreshing surfaces than adding depth, but that should be enough to keep conditions enjoyable. Courchevel is now well into its winter season schedule, with festive events beginning to appear across the villages as Christmas approaches, including family activities, seasonal entertainment, and the build up to larger holiday celebrations later in the month. With access across much of the Three Valleys now open, there is plenty of terrain available, especially if you focus on mid and high altitude sectors.

Snow Takeaway

Courchevel is offering solid early season skiing with its strongest conditions on higher slopes where snow depth and quality are most reliable. Prepared pistes are skiing well, particularly in the mornings, and the overall picture is stable rather than dramatic. For the next few days, visitors can expect consistent conditions, good grooming, and a snowpack that continues to hold as winter settles in.
