Formerly known as Air Alps, the newly branded Alpine Airlines are hoping to create links between the resorts of Courchevel in the Alps and St Tropez on the Cote d'Azur.

The aircraft, a Vulcanair P69, which can accommodate five passengers and 150kg of luggage, was presented in St Tropez in May this year where the airline wishes to highlight the ease of connections between the two places. Passengers will no longer have to go to the airports of Nice and Cannes and fly to Chambery or Geneva just to reach the Alps.

"Our goal is to get customers to airports inaccessible to jets (sloping, grassy, with a short track runways). We are only starting the activity, but we want to be competitive," says Anne Olivieri, Communications Alpine airline. "The service aims to offer flexibility and time saving), and shortening flight times by 30% compared to helicopters."

Expect to see this small aircraft buzzing about the skies of Courchevel and St Tropez shortly.
