Last year we reported that restaurants will be required to specify on the menu what is 'homemade' and the law came into effect on the 15th of July, just a day after the industry's often busiest day of the year - Bastille Day.

From the 15th of July commercial catering establishments are now to label all foods on the menu with the 'Fait Maison' label or logo to all foods that are essentially made from raw ingredients - "which have not previously undergone any significant changes, including heating, pickling, assembly or a combination such process". At the moment this is on a voluntary basis but will be enforced early in 2015.
For the real foodie fans out there you can learn more on the official French website here.

Have you seen the new label yet in a Courchevel restaurant and has it affected your choice?
