Val Thorens tourist office have just announced this morning that they will be unable to open as expected this weekend, putting the date back to the 28th November.

Even though the latest forecasts are predicting anywhere up to 77cm of snow in the next 6 days the resort have said they have no choice but to postpone for a week.

Their statement reads "In spite of our determination to open the resort and the ski area on 21st November, unpredictable weather conditions have made it impossible for us to do so in a satisfactory way. For this reason, the teams in Val Thorens have made the difficult but sensible decision to postpone the opening. The resort looks forward to welcoming snowsports fans on Saturday 28th November, in the best conditions".
