- "The staff, service and food are all excellent at this hotel. We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay and would definitely return. Congratulations to the lovely staff who made us feel relaxed and at home, but kept a high level of professionalism and courtesy. And very helpful Excellent food at breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner." - Trip Advisor
- "La Tania is quieter than some of the resorts in the 3 Valleys but there is still plenty to do on and off the slopes with a good choice of bars and restaurants. The hotel itself was very nice; good food, nice size rooms, friendly staff and good facilities including a pool, hot tub, decent bar (where they specialise in 7 layered cocktails), lounge area (free wifi) and a good sun deck. It is good for families, couples and friends of all ages. I'm sure I'll go back." - Trip Advisor
- "Had the best trip at Hotel Le Montana- the snow was excellent and the ski in/out was so great. The hotel was very well situated, next to all the shops and bars. The staff were particularly friendly, especially Chloe and Joel- always had a smile and nothing too much trouble for them. Food was great, the hotel rooms were spacious and the lounge area had a great atmosphere with the fire and large amount of space. Overall, I give the hotel 10/10 and will definitely be returning next year!!!" - Trip Advisor
- "Just back from our family week in La Tania. This hotel is really well situated so that you can ski down to the gondola lift in the morning and ski back to the door in the afternoon. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The bar staff were fun with Lewis and his team aiming to please all of us with lovely cocktails, mocktails and nice wine and beers. The food really was fantastic. Diet started today... The hotel is probably in need of some attention but provides a relaxed atmosphere. The Wifi was sporadic and only available in public areas not the rooms. It's particularly nice to sit out on the sun terrace with tea and cake or fruit after a long day's skiing. The small pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room provide great relaxation for aching muscles although there were a couple of days where is was too cold or no water. The rooms are big if not charming with great space for everything. The transfer time was 2 hours and extremely comfortable thanks to good coaches and great drivers. Thanks to all the team for our great week." - Trip Advisor
Tourism in the Courchevel Valley started as early as the beginning of the Twentieth Century with summer holidays rather than winter. The first skiers arrived in Courchevel in the 1930's and the development plan for a ski resort with the help of Lauren Chappis in the 1940's. The official name of 'Courchevel' was decided upon in 1946 along with the creation of the first hotel 'Trois Vallees Hotel'. The first ski lifts were installed towards the end of 1946 by Jean Pomagalski joining Courchevel Village to Courcehvel. By the late 1950's the resort consisted of; one cable car, three gondalas, six ski lifts and 210 buildings for accommodation. Development continued and over fifty years later there is currently 58 ski lifts and 150km of piste along with four separate resorts; Courchevel, Courchevel Moriond, Courchevel Village and Le Praz.
This small relatively new resort is purpose built and is situated at 1400m within a forest between Courchevel and Meribel with easy access to the entire Three Valleys ski area. Built at the end of the 1980s near the hamlet of La Tagna (meaning 'The Bears Dwelling') La Tania was opened on 22nd December 1990 and hosted both the athletes and journalists for the 1992 winter Olympic Games. The village is traffic free, making it ideal for families and offers a cheaper alternative to the Courchevel resorts whilst still having easy access to the other villages as well as being in the same ski area.
On the Les Verdons plateau in Courchevel there is a nine hole golf course. There is also a driving range with 27 bays including seven covered bays along with pitching and putting greens.
